I've noticed this week that when I crochet, my right hand - the hand holding the hook - gets sore. Mainly the thumb, middle and ring finger get tingly then numb. Bearing in mind that I have only just started to crochet, literally in the last couple of weeks, and this is a problem I never have when knitting, I'm devastated. I have really enjoyed crocheting in between my knitting projects. So far I have crochet 3 squares and a little bag. That's it. That's all I've made. I wanted to make a lovely scarf that I saw and then a pair of adorable baby booties. Then there was that hat and a lovely afghan.....

Be careful Bernie - tingly fingers can be a sign of either carpal tunnel or trapped nerves (thus speaks the voice of experience) so maybe get it checked out? Another option is to try Clover Soft Touch crochet hooks which are ergonomically designed for comfort, see here http://www.getknitted.com/acatalog/Crochet_Hooks.html I have some and have got on well with them. Take care!
check the angle of your elbow. it could be you are trapping the nerve on the inside of your elbow. try stretching your arms out more. Hope this helps

Seems strange that you only get this with crochet and not knitting, I had carpel tunnel during my pregnancies and couldn't knit a stitch!!
