Holiday-ette

Guess who's taking a holiday - or a holiday-ette. We're off down south for a week. I'm so tired I don't want to pack and I'm dreading being away from home for a whole week! Funny how living on a small Island makes your world shrink.

When we first moved back here from London we used to laugh at the locals who moaned about their daily commute to work over the mountain from Ramsey to Douglas which is about 12 miles and takes on average about 15-20 minutes. Mr CB's daily commute to work in London was 12 miles and it often took 1 1/2 hours - and he didn't even bat an eyelid.

However, we've been living here for four years now and going to Douglas can feel like a chore. So, imagine how it feels now that we are going away for a week DOWN SOUTH? Gosh, we'll have to get out our trekking gear amd study all sorts of survival guides if we are to make it safely and in one piece!

Only joking! We'll be staying at a lovely hotel. Mr CB is officially off work for a week. Little Miss CB will enjoy the change of scenery and Mademoiselle Jade is in the cat hotel.

I haven't packed yet. We were supposed to go down this evening but today was Little miss CB's belated birthday party and I'm not wonder woman. So we compromised and now we're leaving tomorrow. The only thing I'm concerned about is what I'm going to put my wool stash in to take with me. To hell with clothes. Must have my knitting!

I'll be on line from time to time checking mail etc.. but if Mr CB is taking a week of work then it's only fair I take a week off blogging.

So, speak soon. Have a lovely week and I'll be back on line officially next weekend.

Toodles....Bernie

Have a great holiday, no I don't blog when on holidays, too busy having fun!! Catch you when you get back.

I know what you mean about island mentality, Tasmania is an island state of Australia and we complain if we have to travel more than 20 minutes whereas on mainland Australia they spend hours driving to work and think nothing of it.

Hope you have a wonderful break Bernie! I know what you mean though - I lived in London and also had a daily commute of 1.5 hours and thought nothing of it. Nowadays, like you, I'm such a homebod and although I love holidays, I love being back home too. But anyway, have a great time and hope you come back nice and relaxed.
