Yay! My Wool Winder arrived this morning. I bought it off ebay for a tenner at the weekend. Finally I can wind my beautiful skeins into pretty yarncakes.
I had intended to buy one at auction but I got so impatient waiting for the auctions to end and after being out bid on a few occasions I asked nay begged Mr CB if I could just buy one. He obliged, naturally!!! ;) (hmm, what's he after?)
Off to wind some wool now. You may not see or hear from me for quite a while (unless it all goes horribly wrong and I end up in a tangled fibery mess). Anything is possible so fingers crossed!

Sewing: Knitting Needle Roll for ISE Pal
EDIT 14.05.07: Kathryn kindly took up my offer to swap a needle roll for some feltable wool. This little beauty is winging its way to Kathryn today. If you have any feltable wool that you no longer want or need, and would like to do a similar swap, then please feel free to contact me. THANKS! X
I made this knitting needle roll as a treat for my ISE4 pal. It took me the best part of 12 hours (I started it yesterday evening and finished it this teatime). I drew up the pattern myself as I couldn't find anything I liked on the web. It was also a welcome break from knitting.
The fabric is recycled or left over from previous projects. Next time I wouln't mind getting my hands on some pretty fat quarters with my favourite colour combinations: turquoise/red/white or pink/brown/blue.
I'm really pleased with how it turned out, although the inside flap is bugging me. It's a little bulky. I'll leave it for now and come back to it in a week. I'll change it then if it's still bugging me.

If anyone would like to make one then I'll gladly share the pattern/instructions just as soon as I write them up. They're a doddle to make. The hardest part is remembering which order the pieces are put together! If you've got a half decent sewing machine then that's the hard work taken care of! My poor old dinosaur of a machine is a Singer 507 which I picked up in a charity shop about 5 yrs ago for a tenner and thankfully it's still going strong...... just.
Enjoy!
PS I would be happy to make one in exchange for some feltable wool. If you're interested in doing a swap then let me know. I would love 400yds of feltable wool in exchange for one needle roll, but that's up for negotiation!!!
