It's personal....fertility problems - you've been warned!

I'm going to get personal here for a brief moment, vent about my fertility problems, and then return to normal programming. Sorry, but it's got to be done!

I had a horrendous gynae procedure done a few weeks ago where they took a sample of my endometrial tissue with a pipette. Not sure if anybody has ever had this done but it was not enjoyable at all. Whatsoever! Mind you, what Gynae procedure is pleasant - but this is definitely not nice. Honestly, I couldn't stop crying for 2 days after the procedure and even now it still upsets me. Apparently, there's a good doctor at our hospital who can do this procedure without any discomfort or pain. Why oh why didn't anybody mention this before! Oh, and BTW, if he's not so hot at taking a sample this way, then perhaps he shouldn't be doing it. Duh!

Anyway, I was at the hospital today for a follow up consultation with one of the Gynaes and he has narrowed down my problems to PCOS & Anovulation. I've been prescribed a tablet called Duphaston 10mg BD to be taken for 14 days every month for 6 months which I believe is some form of progesterone (I need to investigate this one further before a single tablet passes between my lips!).

In the meantime we are going to go at it hammer and tongs and try to get pregnant! Yippee! You can imagine Mr CB's delight when I was told that we should busy ourselves with this for the next 6-12 months and then consider fertility treatments if I'm not preggers by then.

One minor glitch in the system - while trying to get preggers and while (hopefully) pregnant, I will have to abstain from my pain medication. Life's a bitch!

Good luck to you guys. My sis went through a lot of that stuff. So, best wishes to you. I know it can be heartbreaking while waiting for something to stick!

Sending you loads of hugs, luck and babydust! Don't forget to take some vitamin supplements like Pregnacare and for hubbie, Wellman - they do help. If you ever need a chat/vent/scream you know where I am - as am in a similar situation myself. Take care and hope the pain eases soon.

Good luck with the Duphaston. We had fertility problems when we were trying to have my second daughter.

Thank you all for your comments.

Ar - thanks for the encouragement.

Piglottie - Thanks for the babydust. I'm sure I'll be taking you up on your offer to vent etc.. one of these days.

Procrastiknitter - did you take Duphaston? I wasn't given any leaflets with the drugs when I got them from the chemist and have been trying to look for info on the web but there seems to be different types of Duphaston out there and I'm not sure which one I've got. I understood from the Dr that it was progesterone (and also what it's for) but apart from that I don't know much else.
