I have to admit to doing most of my shopping on the net - everything from groceries to yarn and even Christmas presents. I do like to support the local shops but you can't beat the net for choice and value for money.
Brace yourselves for this exciting stash enhancement. I'm still reeling from the buzz...
This 4 Seasons DK 50/50 cotton/acrylic blend yarn is going to be made into a chemo cap or two for the local hospital. The colour's a bit washed out but perhaps it will look ok when knit up.
I'm hoping to make a pair or two of wristers or wristlets with this yarn. From left to right, the burgundy(ish) is 320 yds of acrylic; the pink yarn is an acrylic/wool blended aran weight; and the stripey yarn is the same gauge and blend as the pink. All of these yarns are by King Cole - a very common brand here on the Island.
This bundle of Wendy DK acrylic yarn was an absolute bargain at 60p a ball. It will be used for making amigurumi. Hidden in among the bundle are 6 balls of dk green which I was hoping to use as an accent on a bag that I'm making.I also managed to pick up a 250g bag of toy stuffing for about £2. Whipdeedoo!
It wasn't all negative though. When we got back to Ramsey, Mr CB took me out for lunch. While I was waiting on the food to be served, I did my usual trick of nipping into the LYS next door to the cafe. There's always a few bargain bins of yarn and look what I found: Tapestry yarn at £1 per ball. I bought 6 balls, which should be enough to make a scarf or two.
I love the way this yarn knits up - you can really see the stitch definition. Although it's a mohair / wool / acrylic / polamide mix I wonder if it would felt or shrink if I washed it in the machine??? I sense an experiment coming on....And there you have it. My exciting stash enhancement.
