Miniature Knits

Following a conversation I had with a pal over on the Craftythreadsnyarns forum, here's a picture of some miniature knits that I made. These are 12th scale and the patterns are taken from the book 'Mini Knits' by Linda Spratley.

I use embroidery thread (or embroidery floss), usually one strand at a time to make these. One skein of embroidery floss would be enough to produce quite a few of the children's mini knits. I've made some items using the variagated embroidery thread and these look really nice too.

Why mini knits? Well, I wanted something extra special to embellish my hand made cards with. These looked really cute and realistic.. However, once I made a few pieces, I realised that they were far too precious to put onto cards. When you consider that some handmade miniature clothing sells for quite a few £stg each, I couldn't justify the costs of the cards!!!

Oh you seriously need to insure your hands! Those are darling and I can only imagine the work involved there.

They are so cute! Amazing work, do you end up with a squint after a while though?!

Bernie,

Your patience is inspiring! I think it's harder to knit something so small and intricate with shaping than something larger....kudos, my dear!

The only mini thing I've knitted sofar was a sock. lol. I have another started, well that's been started for months that is done with tooth pics...I had to stop because my fingers were getting sore from being poked, lol. But it was fun and maybe some day I'll get back to it. But anyway....VERY NICE WORK!

The little outfits are even lovlier in real life, I don't mind if you send me cards with them stuck on (not too much glue mind), hee, hee. Seriously Bernie you are super talented and they are just perfect.
